Uncover the Sources of Risk & Reward (Macro & Fundamental)


  1. Open RISK to view the Summary Tab of your current exposures to customizable risk factors.
  2. Choose your reference universe (ex. S&P 500, Watchlist, Russell 2000, etc.) by opening the Gear icon on the upper right.
  3. To EDIT factors, open the Filter (upper right) and select the metrics that you care about.
  4. Charts show your Gross and Net Beta to five market factors - Value, Growth, Profitability, Sentiment, and Quality.
  5. A Macro Beta table for Oil, Interest Rates, Dollar & Gold is included above the factors.
  6. Open the Fundamental Tab to view indiviudal exposures to each factor
  7. Open the Events Tab to view near term trends and information for your portfolio (short interest, revisions, momentum, etc..)

Portfolio Simulation - Understand the Impact Before You Trade


Open RISK and select the Simulate Icon (Looks like an eye in the upper right)

  1. Choose the Simulate option at the top (pink circle will appear next to Simulate)
  2. Choose your fund (or if only one fund, it will be auto-selected)
  3. Choose % of equity or quantity (% is auto-selected)
  4. Add a new postion and choose your weight.
  5. Click Simulate to add it to your portfolio and review the results.
  6. Choose Reset to remove it from the portfolio.

Create Price Targets / ROI Scenarios (Basic) - Know Your Portfolio Projected ROI


  1. Open the CONSTRUCTION Category (Left sidebar). Opens in Summary, providing a view of all the companies that have your proprietary ROI calculations. Sort by Risk Adjusted Return (RAR) to see the companies with the highest returns. View your weighted average ROI estimates for your portfolio, longs and shorts on the bottom section.
  2. Click Price Optimization tab to enter a new price target, notes, .xls or review/edit an existing one by selecting the "Down Arrow" underneath the "Ticker" Column"
  3. Enter ticker into the search bar (upper left) and company and price will populate in the optimization engine.
  4. Enter the number of scenarios and your estimates of price and probability (comes standard with three scenarios - Upside, Base, Downside)
  5. Enter notes on each scenario and/or in a consolidate research management window on the lower left.
  6. Click “ Save” to add to the history.




Let EDS Recommend a Few Ideas to Optimize Your Portfolio


  1. In the RISK Category, open the “Trading Optimization tab
  2. Open the simulation icon (looks like an eye) and choose trading optimization
  3. Adjust your factors to the desired beta, maximum # of trades, maximum position change and simply select “ Optimize”.
  4. EDS automatically analyzes your portfolio for names that help you achieve your desired outcome, based on your constraints.
  5. Results are displayed in a rich visualization showing before and after.




Recommend Position Sizing (RPS)


  1. Open the CONSTRUCTION Cateory.
  2. Selecting the Gear icon
  3. Select
  4. Choose Minimum and Maximum position size
  5. Choose Minimum and Maximum ROI profile.
  6. EDS optimizes position sizes for the maximum return of your portfolio (i.e., bigger weights in those names with higher returns)
  7. Results are on the Summary page under the Recommended Position Size (RPS) column.
  8. View consolidate results at the bottom of the SUMMARY page
  9. Talk to your EDS Account Rep to customize your firm parameters.




Create Price Targets - ADDING CONVICTION


How much should I own? How do I differentiate beyond ROI projections.....key questions, since owning too much or not enough can make a big difference. This why we added "CONVICTION" - the ability to customize and adjust the criteria that help you gain specific insights into the risks/opportunities of each postion. ADJUST CONVICTION SETTINGS

  1. Open CONSTRUCTION category and the Price Optimization tab.
  2. Create a new price target or select an existing one.
  3. Select Conviction tab (next to history tab at the bottom)
  4. Adjust your conviction settings.
  5. Click SAVE & Your Conviction % will adjust - this will also cause the Recommended Position Size (RPS) to change.
CREATE NEW CONVICTION VARIABLES
  1. Select Gear Icon (upper right corner)
  2. Select the Conviction tab
  3. Add the # of Labels (# of scenarios for each catalyst)
  4. Select the Pink + Icon to create a new Catalyst (ex. AWS Slowdown in screenshot)
  5. Create your scenarios and weight them (confidence is automatically created)
  6. Select Save. Choose the close button (X) or click outside the box to return to the main screen. Re-enter stock to see new details.

Screening Basics - How to Set-Up Your "Fund Rank"


  1. Open the SCREENING Category and choose an equity universe (Portfolio, Watchlist, Sector, etc.)
  2. Sort by " Your Fund Rank"
  3. Adjust the weighting of your factors in your personal factor box (top right) or create a new screen by selecting the Gear Icon (upper right) or in the factor tabs (ex. Vaulation, Profitability, Growth, Quality, Sentiment)
  4. To Create a New Screen:
    • Open each tab, starting with Valuation (top of panel), and:
    • Choose the financial metrics & timeframe (see attachment)
    • Choose the type (historical and/or cross-sectional) of study.
    • Lastly, choose when “Higher is better” or “Lower is better” when filtering the universe. EDS ranks 1 (if higher is better,the best rank will be a 1.0)
    • Move to the next tab (Profitability) and repeat Step 4.
  5. Select " Recalibrate" to save your screening changes.
  6. Select " Save Default View" and these parameters will appear by dafault or when you select " Reset"

Add internal data, such as confidence, price targets, alternative data, etc. to my analysis


  1. A “Conviction” indicator comes with the base platform
  2. Within the PORTFOLIO CONSTRUCTION Category, select “Price Optimization"
  3. Select "Price Optimization" and enter stock into the search engine
  4. Change the default conviction settings.
  5. Click "Save"
  6. For other data, contact your EDS expert.
When you search/screen for companies in the SCREENING category, Conviction will be display as a factor and will impact your rank.

  1. Open SCREENING Category.
  2. Open Watchlist icon (the eye in the top right) and select “ Active Portfolio
  3. Sort by " Your Fund Rank" or by any of your personalized factors (Valuation, ROI, Confidence, Alt Data)

Analyze a Sector or Industry (Top Down)


  1. Open SCREENING Category.
  2. Use the Gear Icon (Upper Right) to select your overall universe, (by Country, Market Cap, ADV, etc.) or open a custom Watchlist

How Do I Use the Tear Sheet for Stock Analysis


  1. Open the VALUATION Category. Tearsheet is the first tab.
  2. Enter ticker in the search bar (top left)
  3. View "Your Fund" Rank across any stock in your universe. Provided in the upper right, based on the customized factors you created in SCREENING
  4. Focus on the metrics that correlate the closest with the stock price. Chosse timeframe and click the “ Top Drivers” button and in the upper right, EDS provides the Growth, Margin, Quality and Sentiment metrics that align during your chosen time period
  5. Factor rankings across any universe. Put your stock into the proper context across valuation, profitability, growth, quality and sentiment.
  6. View the macro exposure to oil, dollar, interest rates and gold.
  7. Interactive time-series charts - rather than static metrics, EDS puts the past and forecasted future into perspective. Select your metrics from the drop down under fundamental factors in the upper right.

Regression - Industry/Group Analysis


Understanding how a group of stocks interact with each other can provide valuable insights, (which ones are undervalued or overvalued) into the research process. For example, which valuation methodology (EV/EBITDA, EV/Sales, PE) correlates most closely with financial performance (margins, growth, capital structure).

  3. EDS automatically selects the the valuation methodology, which aligns most closely to a comapany's fundamentals.

  5. In the example below, we see that P/B has over an 85% (75% R-squared) correlation to ROE and we can further see that BAC might be considered under-valued relative to other companies, given its ROE and current P/B.
  6. Improve the Accuracy of Price Targets - We can look at P/B for companies with higher ROE, and forecast BAC's price, based on those data points. If ROE for BAC moves up, what is a reasonable expectation for P/B...

  1. Open the OWNERSHIP Category and 13F Filings (Stock) Tab is auto selected
  2. Choose your universe:
    • Enter ticker in search bar (to add sub-industry after your ticker is visible, select ( All) Values under the ticker heading in the factor-box

    • Select your Portfolio
    • Filter ad-hoc in the filter-box
  3. Sort by " Fund Ownership" Trends" (EDS Is calculating Z-Scores to determine has buying/selling accelerated). EDS provides an easy-to-understand rank from 1 (accelerated buying) to 5 (accelerated selling)

How Have Earnings Surprises Tracked This Quarter


Now you can keep your fingers on the pulse - monitoring earnings across the entire market, by sector, industry and stocks, and all in one dashboard.

  1. Open the MARKETS Category and choose the Surprises tab.
  2. Choose time period by dragging the slider to the # of days that have passed.
  3. Left panel consolidates eanings by Market, Sector, Industry
  4. Right panel shows the individual company performace:

  • Sales Surprise - Sales vs. consensus
  • Sales Revision - Following quarter revisions since the report
